I have on older suit I haven't worn in many years, but still new condition. I need to have the waist taken out 1/2 inch, maybe an inch, which I don't think should be a problem, right? My question is about the jacket. It fits fine in the sleeves, but it seems big in the middle by todays style.

It's a simple two button black suit that looks like this in the middle/stomach area:

I want it to look slimmer/skinner in the middle/stomach/waist area, like this:

Is that something a tailor would be able to do, bring in the middle a bit? I have a one night event that requires a suit and tie and I don't really want to go out and buy a new suit. It wouldn't be worth it, I haven't worn this suit since freshman year of high school and I'm almost 26 now! I certainly don't mind paying a little to have it tailored correctly, if it's possible.

    What do you guys think?

Okay. Any idea how much this would cost to tailor the pants waist, maybe pants length and jacket waist? Just a rough idea? I don't need anything fancy, this was an inexpensive suit back in the day, am I better off with a Men's Wearhouse type of place or something in a mall or what?

I had my blazer taken in so it ran closely along my torso (not just the waist). It cost about $175 from a pretty good tailor in SF. For just the waist, it would cost me $75.

Fuck that, I don't think the suit even cost that much originally. I'm only going to wear this one night. :hs:

That's what I'm hoping, I don't need anything that fancy.
