When I go right to parallel my knees really hurt, but if I stop right above parallel I am good to go no pain in the knees. From now on if I just go to a little above parallel will that really make a huge difference?

Maybe you should have someone check your form, perhaps your knees are extending too far forward or something?

That could be possible, I will check it next week. Should they not come forward at all?

    Most likely a form issue.

I will definitley be checking my knees next week, I did some practice squats here at home with no weight and they came forward a tiny bit, but not really past my toes.

In the Olympic version of the squat, initiating the movement is still about sitting back, but not nearly to the same degree as the powerlifting squat. Essentially, we're looking for a happy medium between sitting back and sitting down. The knees are going to come in front of the toes simply because this is the only way to get deep when the trunk is more upright; if the knees stay directly above the toes on an Olympic squat, your base of support is too narrow, your center of gravity is shifted backward, and you fall backward (and still don't get your depth). You see this all the time in beginners.

So, the question arises of whether or not the knees coming in front of the toes during the Olympic squat is dangerous. Fry, Smith, and Schilling (2003) examined joint kinetics during back squats under two conditions.(1) In the first condition, a board placed in front of the participants' shins restricted the forward displacement of the knees. In the second condition, movement wasn't restricted at all; they squatted normally, and the knees passed the toes (gasp!).

The researchers found that restricting the forward excursion of the knees during the squat increased anterior lean of the trunk and promoted an increased "internal angle at the knees and ankles." The results were a 22% decrease in knee torque and a 1070% increase in hip torque!

Sure, they "saved" the knees by limiting stress on them, but those forces were transferred more than tenfold to the hips and lower back!

i'm 6'2 and the only way i can go ass to grass without lurching forward is if i use a bit wider shoulder stance. If i put my feet real close together then i end up rounding my back.

i'v found that putting a peice of board under my heels helped doing atg close stance squats.

    Like a hack squat?

What prevents you from falling backwards, are your toes nailed to the ground?

If you kept your back straight up, went ATG, and didn't let your knees go forward you'd get stapled to the floor. I don't think you even know what your squats look like.

from what I saw last night my knees looked like figure A, but like I said I will check it out when using some weight.

Also I will widen my stance a bit. My toes are pointed outward but I don't think as far as 45 degrees.

If you don't even know what your own squats look like, don't give advice to people on squat form :dunno:

I'm sure your form is picture perfect bra, we should all practice in front of a mirror so we too can squat 225x8.

Take a video with some weight on the bar from a side angle to get critique on your squat.
