My friend recently showed me how to do squats. But I have messed up knees, I get stress fractures, mostly do to running (yes I have cut back on my running.)

If I start doing squats, will it put a lot of stress on my knees?

    Oh yea... I'm 18, 160lb, 6'1-2"

well squats are a non-impact activity so they shouldnt affect your stress fractures, they stress your knees in that they put a lot of tension on the tendons in your knees, but with proper training your tendons will strengthen along with your muscles and you shouldnt have any problems, basically the stress from squats is not the same as stress due to running

however, i have a knee injury due to squating, and when i try to run it aggrivates it due to the impact of running which causes inflammation in my knee that affects my knee's health for squating...so the two are correlated

but just try some squating for a while and see how you feel and what you think, you should be fine in my opinion

I guess since its non-impact I'll be fine... I guess I'll give it a try.
