Was debating with a friend and I think that if you are on a mood altering drug (like an anti-depressant), your security clearance is to be suspended for that period of time. Is this true?

Yes it will, I called our wing intel. You will lose any security clearence if you are on any mood alterting or anti-dpressant. I asked him the exact question.

Nothing in the military is a definate...however the answer is "could be" depending on the level of your clearance and your access to materials.

I have a TS...and where I work, whenever I get meds, my OIC will kick me out of the shop till im off. Nothing to do with the clearance, just your status on those drugs.

I read into this, yes, they can take your security clearance away, but not for the simple fact of taking an anti-depressant. They look into the facts of what had occured to make one have to take anti-depressants. But not everyone is completely nuts that takes them. I went to an MMRB for this reason (I took Zoloft for anxiety for a while) and the military is completely aware of my situation. When I applied for my clearance, they knew i was taking them, and it was still granted. So pretty much if you are a loon or crazy, then yes, they have the right to revoke your clearance. If it is something minor, you get to keep it.

I call BS. There is a guy in my shop who is on a anti depressant and maintains a TS clearance. Must be a case by case scenario
