I have the panasonic fz10 - and have the regular 512 mb card. 1 gig is overkill for that camera, as mine is 4 mp and the battery will go dead before I fill up the card at full resolution and high quality. High speed for your camera isn't going to make a difference, it doesn't with mine.

thanks bro so much, you saving me money. i am clueless with digital cams, lots of people recommended this camera was it a good choice? and one last thing even if i do those rapid fire shots where it takes like a bunch of seperate pics the regular speed SD card will be fine?

    thanks for your time,

    Mike

thats not so much about the speed of your memory card, the seperate shots are stored in the camera's buffer memory while they are written onto the card, so you wont loose anything with a slower card, just might take a second or two more than with the faster card.

I have the standard speed 1GB SD card for my 6 megapixel cam and have yet to run into a problem with write speeds.

And by the way, I got my card a week before xmas and there was a $15 mail-in rebate at that time. You might want to see if it is still happening.
