when you flash the firmware on a router, does it retain the current settings, or default back to the factory settings?

    My router is a D-Link DI-524

    It should keep the settings.

If your router supports it, I'd back it up first just in case.

    Depends. Some do, some don't.

In your case it will revert to default. Here's there readme for one rev of the firmware. Dunno if you're rev a/b/c/d/e/etc

You have to reapply all of your configs since it states
