Background my ex was on BC for about 3 years then stopped in August. She got her period the month she stopped which was August 16th. We had sex three times unprotected from Aug 18-20th. At the end of September about a week late for her period she took a pregnancy test which came out negative. Another week goes by and she took a 2nd test, negative. The same week she took a 3rd test also negative. 2 days ago (8.5 weeks since last period) she took a test at a clinic which also came out negative. Today I bought a semi pricy test which also came out negative and this was the 5th test. Could she be pregnant or is something wrong with her period cycle?

You are fine. Stopping being on BC will screw up the period cycle. Relax. The fact that the clinic came out negative should put you at ease.

Yeah, birthcontrol has like a set amount of hormones that will make sure that the period comes ontime, but when her body is just adjusting to having to use their own hormones to produce a period it wont take to it at first until it gets back into that type of a routine.

quit being stupid and not using protection.

I knew a girl that got off BC for 5 years, didnt get her period for a full year. Had to take special drugs/hormones to induce it again. Some women react differently than others.

Are you TRYING to have a baby?

I guess someone needs to ask this.

That's what I am gathering from this that she stopped because you guys want to have a baby.

Why else would she come off of BC?

If you don't want a baby, just know that she does. I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

A girl who has taken BC for 3 years and then suddenly comes off of it doesn't make much sense to me unless she wants a baby.

I could be wrong. I've been known to be wrong many times.

No, there are reasons why she would have come off the BC.

But the reason why she wants to get pregnant is that she is off it and letting you hit it raw.

    Dumb.

She went off BC because her prescription ran out and the horrible medical system will not let her see a doctor till mid November to get a new prescription. Point is this, what’s done is done the fact that we had unprotected sex a couple of times is irreverent today. What important is can she actually be pregnant after being negative on five pregnancy tests since she has not gotten her period after 2 months.

No, after a clinic says no, after her missed period, you are pretty safe.

But anything's possible. Hebtrewnational, you ARE the father!

You know, with all that money you've been spending on pregnancy tests you might as well BUY SOME CONDOMS OR BIRTH CONTROL  Jesus.

    What a bunch of bullshit.

What clinic can't squeeze someone in until 4 months? Especially after being on it for 3 straight years.

I'm sorry dude, but that sounds like a load of crap.

Planned Parenthood = FREE BIRTH CONTROL

I hate that excuse, no offense (unless you are out of the US). I went off BC because I got an 18 inch blood clot in my leg from it and almost died. In my eyes, that is the only reason to go off BC! And what happened to me? I got pregnant in the three week period before I got my IUD in... even with condoms!

So there you go. She's not pregnant this time, but keep this up and you will be getting an abortion or having a baby, neither is a good idea.

You know this, i'm sure, but still... really?

    Good luck!

what prescription for BC only lasts 8 months? they usually write a full year. above and beyond that, when my insurance decided to stop paying for my pills, my doctor started giving them to me for free as "samples." If i ever run out, I just call them and they give me more. once a year, go to the doctor, get a new prescription for another year, they give me 12 samples, and i never use it. absolutely NO reason for me to go off it, because there are ways to deal with these things wihtout risking getting pregnant.

Darkangel, great suggestion with PP. They should definately be able to get her in in a timely manner, for little to no cost.

Hebrewnational, she does have a very good point. I know you said whats done is done, but how 'bout taking this one as a learning experience, huh?

thanks for all the advice. There were other complications as to why she could not get BC earlier.

I know a couple who have a healthy baby boy because they went overseas and despite continuing to take the pill, the different timezone was enough to make the pill ineffective (ie, she was taking it 12 hours out of sync).

Sounds like her system is just off because of the sudden stop of birth control. If all of her tests are coming out negative, you probably have nothing to worry about. Take her to the doctor.

And stop having unprotected sex, you wouldn't be having this problem at all if you'd just use a condom or get her back on BC. :dunno:

C'mon. If 37 pregnancy tests didn't convince you that you she's not pregnant, we surely can't.
