Question about my sisters laptop

    If you're using battery and have the wireless connection on and you plug in AC power it locks up. Same if you're on AC with wireless active and you unplug it.

    Locks up, not as in some program doesn't work...locked up as in you can't even move the mouse until after a hard reboot. It's fine if the wirelss is off and apart from this problem it doens't even hicup at anything.

    Toshiba M40 (M45 in the states I think):

    Pentium-M 1.6
    Intel 2200 wireless
    XP home


    wtf is going on? She's gonna take it back to best buy and they probably won't be much help apart from keeping her laptop for 60 days.

    the wireless card doesn't like being power managed. When you go from AC>DC or vice-versa a power management event occurs, and the card (more specifically the drivers) cannot handle this.

    so this is a toshiba problem?

    I know this wireless card is used all over the place, so that can't be it :(

    well, toshiba could vary well be the problem....
