Question about my diet

    I've been eating clean as fuck the last few weeks and I like what I see.

    this is my basic diet

    6am: Smoothie (1 banana, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup milk, handful of walnuts or scoop of natural ppb, 2 scoops ON whey, 2 shots espresso)

    8am: 1.5g l-arginine

    10am: Celery with natural ppb

    12: chicken breast with broccoli and cottage cheese

    2pm: 1.5g l-arginine

    4pm: cottage cheese and celery with natural ppb

    6pm: 1.5g l-arginine

    6:30pm: lift and 1 scoop ON whey

    7:30pm: chicken breast and broccoli

    830pm: handful of unsalted peanuts

    I drink my shake while working out since my last meal is at 4 and I need something before dinner. That means instead of a post workout shake I just eat my dinner since I go right home after lifting. It seems silly to have another shake (like what i have first thing in the morning) if by the time I'm done drinking that I eat a chicken breast. Is this dumb? Should I reorganize this somehow?

    Also... fucking sodium. These damn frozen chicken breasts have 350mg of it. I drink a ton of water to offset but its annoying. Is there some better?

    Any general comments on diet?

    I'm following the lifting routine from the sticky and have been making nice progress.

    Noob question, what is the purpose of taking arginine? I quickly wikipedia'd it and saw that it's an amino acid, so if I had to guess it helps repair muscle tissues?

    Also how much do you weigh and what is your cal intake/macros?

    It helps the production of nitric acid. Been taking it for a few days now. Nice pump at the gym, no sides that I can see, so i'm liking it so far.

    4 scoops of whey

    2 servings of cottage cheese

    2-3 chicken breasts

    that's not enough?

    Fml.

    I'll add a shake around 2:30 and bring 2 chicken breasts to work and have 2 at dinner (for a total of 4).

    92ish from whey
    120ish from chicken

    That's where I'm supposed to be isnt it?

    how many calories a day are you eating?

    that looks like not much more then 1200.

    It might be low, i need to start tracking in fit day again. I went to this diet after tracking for a week and seeing how many fucking carbs i was getting via all the sandwiches I ate.

    But the natural ppb is bringing the calories up there a bit

    Ok ok ill bring tuna to work.

    I was eating way too many carbs so i'm trying to bring them down to something more reasonable (3 sandwiches throughout the day on wheat, plus a wheat tortilla with banana and ppb in the morning).

    Almost 2 weeks into eating like this and frankly prefer cutting out most of those carbs.

    Oh, i forgot, I have a spinach salad every night with my chicken breast (olive oil and balsamic vinegar).

    I'll increase oatmeal to a cup a in the morning

    if your going to eat bread make sure its whole GRAIN not wheat. wheat is usually processed out the ass. check the ingredients, most of the time wheat bread has HFCS in it.

    cut out the bread to only a few times a week and sub it for 1/2 - 3/4 cup of rice or oatmeal.

    that's a good idea (especially in the morning...your first meal should have a good portion of your carbs for the day)

    but taking fiber when you're metabolism is at it's highest is pretty important.

    A handfull of allbran, or psyllium fiber to your shakes will help you with the plumbing...no doubt

    imo you're low on complex carbs. unless you used to be fat or gain weight like crazy on carbs you need to stick some brown rice up in there and some whole wheat bread.

    I'd say try a diff brand of chicken...not all are full of sodium.

    what is l-arginine? is that the stuff that helps increase blood flow and helps with ED?

    My shits haven't been all that awesome so this makes sense.

    Not fat, but as I said I was way too high on carbs so I guess i'm taking it to an extreme. I'll add some brown rice a few times a week. Although note weekends I'm not as strict :hsd:

    All the frozen skinless chicken breast at Ralphs are pumped full of sodium. Annoys the fuck out of me.

    I posted a link to arginine info a few up. I'm taking it for its nitric oxide production, although supposedly it gives you better erections. We'll see about that this weekend :naughty:

    No one answered my question about drinking my shake at the gym and not having a post work out shake since i eat right after anyway.
