Well my college buddy was in the gulf War and served his time. he went back to school to get a degree and next i find out that he was deported?

Well, I never knew wasnt a citizen but he was a cool calm guy. He has a daughter and not sure what is going to happen(she was born here)

I remembered when he finally opened a little about his stint there, he should me his wound but he told me, "Fuck, it was a cheap flesh wound, im not leaving for this crap" lol

Yup. You only have to first be a legal resident of the United States. After that, you can apply to any branch of the service. :wiggle:

Majority of Puerto Ricans have to go through a program to learn english before going through basic training.

We had guys that would act like they couldn't speak english when ever is benefited them. Start cussing at them though, and all of a sudden their english is great.

   ...

Im serious though... we had this kid, not in my platoon, but in the company, who couldnt speak english...like at all. I dont know how he got in.

There was also a kid in that same platoon who got thrashed constantly and they wouldnt let him leave until he threw up. He get thrased and when he threw up theyd let him go after he cleaned his puke up.

I think you're right. I haven't googled it, but I remember reading that somewhere, although I think it would be easier to become a citizen if you served in the military than if you just applied "cold turkey".

You can. You have to serve your full term before you are a full citizen. There were a few in my unit that were under that plan.

i was told 6 months of active duty qualifies me for an expedited citizenship naturalization process. i'm putting together my citizenship package right now. it gets signed off by my CO and then sent into to Iowa for processing. i don't know what the actual turn around time is but i was not told of anything besides the 6 months as mandated by president bush's signing of a bill back in 2001.

    I'm Rican, :wiggle: .. I knew English :o ...

But there are many Ricans that get in and dont know much English and eventually learn it as they stay in the military longer ...

Once in the military though, non-citizens can apply for citizenship and are more likely to get it than if they werent in the military. I know a few that are doing that right now and they are getting it.
