For the recond, I've never really used a mac. I really do like the mac laptops though. My question is if I type something in say MS word, is it saved as a .doc file which I can download onto a PC, from my email.

Basically, how hard is it to interface normal Microsoft files from a mac to PC.

A breeze. You won't have any problems.

No problemo. You can even put MS Word on the laptop if you want.

For common Aps like MS Office, there is no problem with compatibility. Hell, the aps even look better on a Mac. You'll see for yourself.

even Apple's free, super lightweight text editor (called TextEdit) can read Word files

or if you'd rather get the real deal, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/

Most of my friends or co-workers use Windows PC. I share MS Word and Excel files with them. They cannot tell whether I am sending it from my PowerBook or PC.

They are very compatible. I've done homework at home on the mac, finished a project at school, come home to print it and revise and haven't found one problem yet. The only thing I haven't been able to work with is the plug-in's for excel.
