Question about Mac Mail program

    I have two accounts on my Mac Mail program, one is for my .mac account and one is my work e-mail.

    I'm curious how the Mail program stores the e-mails from my work e-mail account. Will everything that is currently in that folder remain there if for some reason my job is terminated and my e-mail cancelled?

    I'm an analyst in commercial real estate so I know that's a distinct possibility now, I want to know if I need to save the e-mails from work that I would still want to have going forward, or if they'll always remain in my Mac Mail program even once they've been deleted from my company's e-mail server.

    Depends on if it's setup with IMAP or POP. If it's IMAP, then once they delete it on the server, you'll lose it. If it's POP, it saves local versions on your machine, so it stays there until you delete it

    How can I tell whether my work email is stored with IMAP or POP?

    Go into Preferences, click on the Accounts section. On the left hand side, it'll say something like [Account Name] then underneath either POP or IMAP

    Underneath the account name it says "Exchange" :confused:

    Looks like the mail is 'stored on server'... is the Mail prog set up to auto-save anything onto my computer, or is it only sitting on my company's server?

    And if they delete my account, does that mean I lose all my mail?
