Since the iPhone will include OS X, I wonder if there will be an available terminal. It would be really cool to be able to ssh into different systems, and control other computers using an iPhone.

you don't actually need console to use ssh.

:wtf: proof? that is doubtful for SO many reasons, not the least of which is apple's desire to maintain control of the iPhone as a software platform.

it wont be "full fledge" and I dont care what Apple says...it just wont. If im wrong you can forever haunt me with this quote. Only Safari be the actual safari thats running under OSX 10.4.

I have no doubt that the OS kernel is a full fledged OSX kernel, but there is no way in hell that it's a full OSX installation with all of the other services and apps.

Developers won't technically be able to create applications for the iPhone. Developers can create Safari based "Widgets" or, mini apps that run off of AJAX and Web 2.0 technologies. This is not the same as an application that can fully access the operating system and control features beyond what a typical web page could.

Don't be a douche, you know what I mean. Obviously it's not going to have print drivers and shit, but it's REALLY unlikely that it will have any sort of terminal app or FTP service or other minor apps/services as well. iPhone will be crippled the same way AppleTV is.

Maybe it will be hackable, maybe it won't, but thinking it'll come out of the box with some sort of terminal service or app is pretty dumb. Even if it is in there it'll be locked down tighter than a virgin's cooter in a catholic nun convent.

yes sidekicks do have a terminal application (and it's slow as hell. it's approximately 1 character per second speed). i figured if there was no full terminal being offered, that there would be an ajax version available
