Well just furniture really. Say I have a friend in Poland, if they could get their hands on some Polish AK parts could they just ship them over here? Whats limited or banned?

You're good to go. I had some stuff shipped from Poland. Customs generally doesn't like mags being sent but lots of people still get theirs fine from Russia and other Eastern Block countries. barrels I'm unsure about and receivers are definitely a no go.

There was a guy from Poland on The AK Forum selling partial beryl kits...no barrels though IIRC. Barrels are banned from importation on firearms that the ATF deems not for sporting purposes, and AKs do not fall into the category.

What caliber? Anything can be made if you have the right gunsmith and the right amount of money. There are still plenty of Romanian 7.62x39 barrels around. K-Var probably has some Bulgy 5.56 barrels too, those would be the cheapest options.

I guess it wouldnt be much cheaper than buying a kit here. But the furniture and bayonets would be cool to get.
