I got a 750gb external drive for storage. (movies, pics, video, installation files, etc etc - I doubt I'll be running Apps from it) .

    I have a MBP, and a Desktop - which I run OS X 86 about 90% of the time.

I'm sorta lost as how i should format/partition it.
My current external is 250 all FAT32 (so I can use the files on Vista and OS X)

In OS X, is there a downfall to using Fat32 vs. Mac OS X Journal?

fat32 you can only have file sizes of 4gb or so.
if you download lots of HD videos or big files, then you'll want it in something other than fat32.

windows can read Mac OSX Journaled using a program called "macdrive"
os x can read NTFS using paragonNTFS

    take your pick.

i'd use Mac OS X Journaled and then install MacDrive on Vista.
