I went with the DD Omega so I don't have to modify anything. My brother wants to get one a little longer but still has the same carbine gas system as me. What all do you need to do to get a longer FF rail system to work? What other tools (if any) will we need to get it on there properly?

you'll need a low-profile gas block that the ff rail can fit over. YHM makes some options.

That's it? Just pull the one off and put the other low profile one on? I figured it would be more difficult than that.

Depends on the model of rail. Some will require you to remove the barrel
to install, others (midwest industries) have mechanisms for free floating
without barrel removal. Those that don't require barrel removal will usually
note it in their features section.

most FF rail systems require low profile gas block and removal of the delta ring assembly.

Both can be done without removing the barrel. A dremel tool or small hacksaw can be used to remove the delta ring and underlying snap ring.

You'll need a punch set to remove the gas tube pin and FSB pins. Also removal of your flash hider will probably be needed.

I was also told that if you are going to use a low profile gas block you need to get the barrel dented for the screws of the gas block. I've heard people doing it and not. But better safe than sorry.

You can probably install one in under 30 min.
