I already checked packing.org and it didn't answer what I'm looking for. I have my CCW, and I know you can't carry in a courthouse or school grounds...obviously. My question is, I'm going hiking with my g/f tomorrow on what I assume to be state land. There are gamelands near it, but the hiking area is a non hunting portion. I wanted to take my USPc along just b/c there are more coyotes this year and just b.c we will be in the middle of wilderness for hours. Is it ok to take my gun and have it in my backpack? I live in PA. I didn't see anything saying it wasn't ok on packing.org, but I think I remember there being controversy about carrying on state land...or mabye I'm wrong. Anyway, if someone can help me out that'd be great.

    Thanks

It would appear that in State Parks it is illegal.

PA Statute 11.215 Section(2)Subsection(4) on State Parks reads: firearms not permitted except for, on the owners leased campsite, owners residence ,or in owners vehicle or trailer.

Def depends on the state. MN just passed more legislation OK'ing our rights to carry in state/federal parks and the such. Great win for the permit crowd.

If you are allowed to carry in order to protect yourself in public areas with many people, who's to say you shouldn't be allowed to protect yourself in remote areas with little amounts of people. Less witnesses and less chances of others being around to come to your aid.
