Going to Vegas in 2 weeks, and plan on bringing my gun with me, I do not have a AZ CCW, and only want to have the weapon for the drive, will be leaving it in the safe at the hotel (in room) while I am there. Any thing laws that I should be concerned with?

If you plan on carrying in NV, ...DONT. they do not honor AZ's CCW permit..

Nevada State Law is silent on motor vehicle carriage of firearms. Any law-abiding citizen may carry a handgun, loaded or unloaded, in their vehicle.
Some cities like North Las Vegas and Boulder City have "Deadly Weapon" laws, and you may be cited or arrested if you pass through their jurisdictions with a gun in the vehicle.

this is specific to Las Vegas:

9.32.080 Deadly weapon prohibited in vehicle--Exceptions.
It is unlawful for any person to have in his possession in any automobile, truck, motorcycle, or any other type of vehicle any dangerous or deadly weapon, but this restriction shall not be deemed to prohibit the carrying of ordinary tools or equipment carried in good faith for uses of honest work, trade or business, or for the purpose of legitimate sport or recreation.

So...it'll be illegal for you to bring your gun into the vicinity of Las Vegas, since you're not allowed to have it in your car at all..

of course. just wondering that if they do, would going to the range be accepted under the provision for "legitimate sport or recreation". and thereby allow him to carry in the car.

NV kicks ass. It's just the liberal pussy headquarters of Las Vegas that blows goats. The rest of the state is conservative and very gun friendly. Open carry, CCW, no restrictions on any firearms.
Thanks to LV we don't honor anyone else's CCW, but hopefully we can toss some more Dems out the door next election and get something going for our out of state friends.

Yes but you have to apply in person and you have to take a class or qualification (don't recall, check packing.org) and it must be taken at an approved range in NV.

They have one about a mile off the main strip. I forget the street name, but I went to it and they were renting full auto thompsons and HK SMGs. It was a pretty nice indoor range. I actually took my gun on the road trip from AZ, and went into the range to see if they had any decent holsters for my subcompact. :hs:

I assume you mean all states that accept non-res permits? FL, MI, and a couple of others accept resident permits but not non-resident permits.

Nevada, and Las Vegas in particular, sucks ass for firearm owners.

They recognize ZERO other states' carry permits. They issue out-of-state permits, but who the fuck wants to go to LV just to take a class, then wait on their permit so they can use it the NEXT time they MIGHT go to NV?

Not to mention the whole Blue Card thing, having to register your firearms, and only being able to carry those firearms with which you have registered and taken your class. As if somehow, when you carry a DIFFERENT firearm than that with which you took your class, you suddenly loose all skill and mindset that the class MIGHT'VE tought. Not to mention that requiring classes for permits blows.

Then you've got the fact that you can't LEGALLY carry in the casinos, because they all have signs up disallowing it, making you a trespasser if you do. It's all a bunch of bullshit. People in NV and LV are in terrible denial about how bad their firearms laws really are. They forget how close to CA they are, and it's melting their brains.

"Oooh, oooh, but we get open carry."

Why does everyone think open carry is so fucking special? How is open carry of any benefit to you? You scare dumb people, and you alert criminals to the fact that you need to be the first one shot when they commit a crime. Then you open yourself up to all sorts of "He threatened me with his gun" shit if you get in just a simple argument with someone, because all they've got to do to make your day miserable is call the cops. After all, Rambo here is sporting his big blaster where everyone can see it. He must want to show it off, and threaten people. That's how it will be portrayed and used against you. The important part of concealed carry is not the "carry," but the "concealed."
