Ok right now I have a State Farm insurance plan with my parents, who live in Cali, but with me being in the military i've been on the East Coast since Nov, and heading to Hawaii in July. When I get to Hawaii which is my permenant duty station, do I need to switch myself to a hawaii plan, or can I keep my same one that I have from Cali since i'm in the military?

Just switch to USAA, it is cheap if you are in the military and the customer service isn't too bad

I had my car insurance in my parents name for my entire 4 years in the military in a different state. Your fine. Since the insurance and car was cheaper with it being in their name, the military required me to get a notarized personally written letter stating I was aloud to drive it. Kinda gay...

im just pointing out a blanket statement like "wtf switch to usaa stat its the best" is stupid because it depends on a lot of things. like almost anything money related do some research first. it takes a few more min to get quotes from various places and you might save some money.

Don't listen to others on this forum. Call your insurance company and find out.

Umm, I don't use USAA, they wont cover my husband because he likes to wreck his car a lot. I found cheaper ways. For some people that have an excellent driving record, USAA is somethies better.

Likes wrecking his car a lot? USAA is great if you can get it...they have the best customer service of any auto insurance company I've ever been with...including Geico, GMAC, and AAA.
