So I did a search and found a few threads related to shoulder clicking while working out, but nothing related to bicep curls so it makes me think I'm doing something wrong. Also, 1 month ago (relaxed) I had 14" biceps, and today I measured and, resting, I had 13.5" biceps. I find that odd because I've been doing biceps every other day because I thought 14" was way to small and I wanted to see gains. Both of those things make me think I'm doing it wrong. I use the preacher curl machine, full extension and full contraction. when I pass the 90 degree mark on the way up, my right shoulder clicks. Doesn't hurt, just clicks.

Do you guys like the machine preacher curl, or is there something better for building bicep mass?

CLIFFS: My biceps suck even though I've been focusing on them, I'm doing them wrong and am looking for new ways to build them.

I have done hammer curls, and those don't make my shoulders click or hurt at all, but I don't get the "hurt" as much when I do those. I suppose it's better than messing up my shoulder though.

Stop doing biceps every other day. I don't know where you would even pick that up?

I'm not an expert on the subject but I really don't think you should be having shoulder problems. If you are, then I'm guessing your form sucks.

You need to have your elbows by your side and they need to stay stationary throughout the lift, if they move then you are using too much of your front delt to lift the weight.

Also it could just be the fact that you are using a barbell. Try switching it up to just dumbbells and see if that fixes anything, but I really think it's just your form.

    Lastly, they're called bicepts.

I am, but I'm beginning to transition. I have, for the last 2 weeks, been doing Pur's bulking routine (food, etc) so weight loss isn't my goal anymore. I was just really surprised when my bicepts (thanks jmezz) continued to get smaller but my calves and quads and chest grew... especially since I've been really trying to focus on my bis.

Thanks, I think it's form too. So no more preacher curls with the bar, I'll switch to DBs and see if that helps. Thanks.

I've started doing 21s at the recommended weights, and they don't hurt my shoulders at all so I will be doing those for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the vid too.

    Standing Barbell Curls for mass
Dumbell Hammer Curls for forearm tie-ins

leave the machines alone, 14" biceps don't need machines
stop training every other day, find a twice a week split at most

Hit your Bi's from every angle and switch your reps up often.

    BB curls,
    Preacher Curls
    Hammer Curls
    Concentration curls
Use machines, switch to BB, switch to DB, and fucking eat

I did some curls last week on the cable machine with the rope and fucking loved it.

Good ROM and keeps your form intact.
