This noisy ass picture made it on Boston Globe and made me realize it was never about what camera can produce the cleanest image.

There is a difference between setup shots, and having to get "that" shot. When you have to get "that" shot, the smallest details don't matter, only the shot does.

Would rather see a grainy shot than no shot at all.

Wtf is wrong with noise every now and again? Grain doesn't ruin a fucking image.

A bad shot will do that so that's about 75% of otap

i know you are just trying to make a point, but actually the main subject is still following a rule of third. he is in the bottom portion of the frame. the image would not be as strong if teh subject was smack dab in teh middle, thus cropping out portions of teh sky and showing more of the ground.

If you get a shot that nobody else ever has; Sure it can be of lower quality.

However, you would be wrong to say that quality doesnt matter. If two people took two shots of the same thing, obviously the higher quality image would be the better one.

So there is no black and white answer to this...i guess it all depends on what is available and you go with the best of what you have.

Yeah. Its like the picture of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. The picture, technically speaking, is pretty awful. However, its the ONLY picture (that has come to light) of the explosion that killed her. That being the case, it can definitely be heralded as a great picture. Would a clearer picture be better? Of course it would be. However, we simply dont have any.

Who cares about quality, composure or timing, its all about what camera was used. Canon

In photojournalist type shots IQ definitely takes a backseat to capturing the moment.
