Okay, I am really irritated about the PWO carb thing. I have to drink my protien shake which takes up calories...then I have to take carbs! I'm trying to figure out the least ammt i can take-so I can manage few calories possible.

    How many grams?

And do I have to eat PWO carbs if I am only running (or protein for that matter) ?

I've been thinking allot about this lately. And does it have to be simple carbs or is granola ok? Some info would be awesome...:sadwavey:

Personally, I think the whole PWO drink is overated. When I was BB I ate chicken after I worked out. Now I intake 50 grams of whey and 20 grams of gatoraid. For years all I would drink pwo was whey alone. As long as the rest of your diet is in check then I wouldn't worry so much about it. This is just my opinion though and I am sure that all of the huge 150 pound guys that squat 115 will disagree with me.

Unless you are injecting insulin, you don't NEED carbs post workout perse. It's just that this is a really good time to take them as the majority will go to replenishing glycogen and very little will spill over into adipose tissue.

Taking BCAA's instead of carbs PWO is all the rage these days now.

is there a difference if you're cutting since you're getting in less carbs over all?

If you're looking for an easy way to get carbs just get a tub of maltodextrin. It's cheap, is pure carbs, and is virtually tasteless. Mix that with your whey and milk.

Supposedly helps maintain a positive nitrogen balance when in caloric deficit.

If you're doing low intensity cardio, you don't really need to since you won't really be using glycogen.
