K so i dont really have any form of workout routine i do and was wondering if doing 65 pushups every morning right when i get out of bed will do anything for me.

Im really hoping to gain a little in my pecs. Ive also heard that doing pushups like that every morning increases your metabolism. Is that true?

Would it benefit me more if i did some pushups at night before i go to bed?

Im on my 5th week of at least 65 pushups in the morning and feel tight in the shoulder areas and thats about it

lucky... i feel like I'm gonna pass out at like 40

Check out the sticky to get a feel for what your goals are and how to set it up to acheive them.

My friend went to high school with a kid that would sit in the gym and do 10 sets of 50 pushups as fast as he could, but would never get on a bench. First time he did for college football he did over 300 lbs... push ups are awesome.. but planch pushups are the way to go :)

Think there are probably more folks that can bench twice their weight than do planche pushups?

That and I doubt someone got a 300lb bench just from doing pushups

Well... I think there are cases of some high calibre gymnasts benching an indecent amount on their first try out.

Hershel walker ex NFL football player claimed he didn't lift weights in college, only pushups and situps etc and he was big as hell. of course i don't know if he was truthful but well who knows lol

I used to do 5 sets of 25 every other day in 10th grade. Thats when I broke my school's phys ed. record by doing 84 in a minute. I almost never do them anymore....I sometimes do them with like a 45 lb late on my back on chest days.

I benched 185 weighing 125 in high school the first time on free weights. I did pushups but not that many to get there. I was in the top 5 for chin ups too without doing as much as I do now.

    IIC, I was 16.

For what it's worth, I did martial arts since I was 8 yrs old but most we did were 10 pushups/50 situps per class.

Never did adress ts.... its better than nothing.
Whenever I'm on vacation somewhere I don't have access I'll do pushups.
When I was 20 or 21 for a month I did 1000 everyday. Split into 400 before breakfast, 300 before lunch and 300 before dinner. Did them in sets of 100...

push ups are nice. You could do pushups and sit ups and have a nice body without ever touching weights.

404 legs [and hence] 'nice body' not found.... There's more to a nice body than just pecs and abs.

Ah I remember those days as well in my early high school years, then being pinned with 225 when I tried for the first time. :hs:

Same here, I even put a thigh pad on my sternum to help me get a little more bounce of the chest. I want to wack our weight training teacher in the face for the instruction I got in that class. :o

itd be funny to see how many pushups people on f&n can do. theyre a great exercise and definitely underused. great for scapular functionality and theres tons of variations of them to do. add some blast straps with feet on an incline and watch your bench fly
