Pushups..

    I have alwasy done a few pushups here and there - sorta like my way of not feeling bad about not doing any exercise.

    Now that I have a plan, and feeling good about it (I bought 95kgs of weight and I'll see how long it lasts) I'm not sure I sohuld keep doing pushups the same way I was before.

    Pretty much each day around lunch I'd do some pushups - started at about 6, yesterday did 2 x 20. Should I keep doing this, or will it interrupt my workouts? I'm 230 ish, so its a bit work. I was planning on working up to 5 x 20's then re-evaluating.

    What should I do?

    i'd work chest once a week, and do dips instread

    Okay. I don't have gym access now, mostly due it costs me too much money which I just don't have at the moment. It was hard enough to scrape up the cash for the weights, but I needed to do something.

    Push ups wont hurt you, just keep doing them

    try doing burpees:run: you can get alot out of bodyweight exercises

    It will in fact improve the efficacity of the neuromuscular junctions.

    What are the risks? I heard it puts a lot of pressure on joints and tendons.

    Is it something I should be doing at 230lbs ?

    i do them at 240:dunno:but im pretty athletic

    kinda off topic but what is a good way to improve the amount of push ups you can do?

    Do two more than the day you did before, then on the weekends do weighted pushups till failure.

    ppl here hate em but i think they are a great complete upper body excercise.

    plain jane pushups wont do crap for you except give you a "pump" look.

    i beg to differ doing just about any excercise will help you in some sort of way... and push ups are good for you, it helps build up a lot of endurance. then again im assuming a "jane pushup" are the ones where you are on your toes and palms...

    they make your chest and triceps stronger

    its just like benching light weight

    Pushups were invented for the sole reason of getting a quick pump in the bathroom when you're out partying and you got a tight top on.

    yo bro they need some 20lb db's in dis bathroom so i could get a bicep pump. shit, wtf am i going to do?

    i dont think any exersize hits the chest better than when you're feet are up on the toilet seat and you got bateman on your back. only shitty part is your hands kinda slip sometimes cause you gotta put down toilet paper first cause the tile isnt always the cleanest :down:

    sometimes if im lucky the bathroom stall is made just right where i can do some chins. but beware if you try to do some chins on peoples shower curtain bar, fuckers arent made strong :down:
