So, although i'm not really into 'working out' I like to do some pushups and sit ups that tone the parts of my body that don't get toned from rockclimbing so much.

    My question:

How does the postion and spacing of your hands whilst doing pushups effect the region that you are working out?

Furthermore :)mamoru:) where should i place my hands in order to centre the workout on my chest, opposed to my arms/back?

    :x:

A wide position will do the upper chest and a close one will do the lower chest.

throw your legs up on a couch to get better resistance....also make sure you use your knuckles, and not flat palm on the ground, allows a better range of motion...

    sorry, i don't get it....:hsugh:

Because i climb its better for me to have stronger muscles but less of them, as weight is obviously pretty important when pulling your bodyweight up a cliff.

I'd challenge any of you bulked guys to do a chin up off a 1cm (1/3") doorframe... fingerstrength > * :fawk:

"Tone" doesn't really exist. You can't tone muscle. You just build muscle and lose fat, which makes the muscle appear more, hence "tone"

there's one here, but instead of doing what it says at the end and just pushing your butt straight back up, you actually should reverse the motion back to your starting position.
