So heres the deal. A new gym opened up about 2 blocks away from our house. Very convienent. Though no matter what, I have the HARDEST time trying to push myself to go and workout. My wife trys her hardest to push me, and I always feel guilty if I dont go. I'd like to go about 4 times a week, and I can only do it about once a week and I just give up.

Help. Plz. What do you use to get yourself motivated to workout? :hs:

Realize that if I don't go I'm a worthless faggot just like the rest of the people that don't force themselves to go to the gym.

The fact that you're looking for encouragement from an online board, and the fact that you have over 24,000 posts says to me that you work best in a comfortable environment. It will have to come from yourself. Once you've decided that it's a priority, you'll go. Otherwise you'll continue on the path you're currently on. Motivation has to be from yourself. Make up your mind as to what you want to do, then stick to it. Many, many times I do not want to go train, but I do it because I do not give myself the option to not go.

The important thing is that it becomes a habit. 1 month is the minimal time that it takes to make something a habit so just go, even if you don't put your heart into it all the time. Don't think about it twice, get your stuff ready so that you can't use this as an excuse. Don't think about going there "when you have time" but plan it and make time for it in your schedule where you don't book other stuff.
An easy way to begin to go is to go watch your favorite shows while doing cardio.

When I was working a 9-5 job that's what I did. Now that I'm back in college and my schedule is alloverthefuckingplace it takes a lot more motivation to get myself there. Have a gym bag, go after work and change and work out. The hardest part of that is making sure you eat a good pre-workout meal like an hour before. If you get in the middle of something and forget to eat, welcome to an ass workout.

you have to have a goal. for me, I play in a baseball league, so in the offseason, i use the upcoming season to push myself.

Every day when it's time to go to the gym and you don't feel like it, get naked and go look in the mirror. If you don't like what you see it's time to go to the gym.

For me it was a combination of that and a thread on this forum. It was pics of this guy's transformation from a fat kid with glasses and a shaved head into a lean and muscular man. I think he posted some pics of girls he was with as well...anyone remember what I'm talking about?

I realize that if I'm going to halfass it half the time or not go, there's no point in going at all. I'm going to be stuck being small and weak, and I've worked too hard at this point to give up.

If I'm tired, or whatever, I still pick my ass up off the couch and enjoy my time at the gym. When I'm there, nothing but the gym matters.

If I'm feeling unmotivated I just watch a few scenes from Gladiator and I'm ready to go.

Going to the gym is the only thing i look forward too...It's a way to get my stress and anger out and something i enjoy to do.
You just need to start your routine going, keep researching, and go.
you said you feel "guilty" for not going, well you should feel guilty...get your ass in the gym.
    Coming from myself, I'm addicted.
I base my school classes AROUND what time I want to work out...I want to make sure I dont schedule classes when the gym is crazy busy (3pm ->)

Don't aim for this right away. These goals are too far from you. You have to consider the voyage there and find a goal for every sessions or every week so that you don't have to wait months before seeing that you "toned up" (and please, don't use those words ever again :hs: ).

I think of that married chick I got involved with ... and how she told me her hubby was 6' 2" @ 250 lbs ... then when I finally saw him in Walmart he was more like 6' 6" @ 300 lbs ... that's enough motivation for 5' 10" 185lb me. :noes:

    Fixed.
