Is it ok to only do box squats as your primary leg exercise (leg press/quad extensions as supplements)?

My hips hurt too much if i free squat too far and then have to put the brakes on (my knees don't appreciate that).. while I realize decent quad development just using a box? does that release of tension come at a large detriment?

    Thanks squatter people.

and DW, NO, I AM NOT GOING A2G, I DONT GIVE A MOTHERFUCKING FLYING FUCK <3

I have to agree with Jonno in that if you want to A2G it is much more comfortable with a front squat versus back squat. As for better quad development; I dunno.

Hey Mike, I think you should try doing A2G Squats. They work well for me.

try some front squats for squad development, I take it you can't go a2g because of your arthritis.

    you definitely deserve a cookie.

Mike... I wouldn't rely solely on box squats, I'd be using the leg press too if your knees can manage it. I'd probably go higher reps on the leg press and then do heavy box squats :dunno: I'd have to try it and see how it all felt. I think you have enough experience to know what works and doesn't when you do it.

I'm pretty sure box squats activate the glutes more than they target the quads (compared to other forms of squatting). Like everyone else said, try front squats. :)
