A&P Purchasing used lenses?

Discussion in 'Lifestyle' started by coughlin's law, Jan 27, 2008.

  1. I've been wondering about my next lens, a 24-70L F/2.8... I'm looking at eBay and finding some decent prices... but is eBay a good alternative to buying lens? I was thinking maybe Fredmiranda.com, but not sure just yet...

    Try photo.net classifieds too. :dunno:

I just got a Tokina 12-24 on FM for $400 so I'm happy.

What is a good thing to look for when buying a used lens? Anything that you need to watch out for that could be wrong with it that you may not notice at first?

You need to be able to put the lens on your camera before you buy it, OR have it be an actual business with a return policy. POTN classifieds are OK sometimes, but I doubt people there would even know if their lens backfocused.
