I've heard it recommended but I wondered how much of an effect it had and how useful it was in maintaining gained LBM.

I thought you were supposed to go more like 4 weeks of maintenance before trying to cut. :dunno:

    Good thing I asked. :dunno:

Another question though, would it be more useful to just keep bulking for the x maintenance weeks? Honestly, I feel like if I have to stay fat for a couple more weeks 2lbs extra is not going to make me look much worse, I might as well get a little extra LBM.

    I'm curious about this...

Is there something wrong with going straight from bulking to cutting? :dunno:

It would make sence for your body to adjust slowly so you don't lose to much muscle that you gained during your bulk.

i'm not basing this on any scientific evidence but i personally believe the longer you maintain that higher level of mass, the more "permanent" that muscle becomes, so to speak

Before i start a major cut phase i change my food sources for about 4 weeks an clean up the diet bigtime, during the first two weeks i do real intense 20 minute cardio to stimulate metabolism. Then i begin my cut phase once i feel my body/stomach is use to the change. This is just what works for me, it works for most but everyones different an needs little tweaks, I got some of my ideas from chris aceto

the longer you stay at a weight the body sets up a "set point" which is good or bad depending on how you look at it. after a certain amount of time you can eat a lower amount of calories to maintain the same weight. on the other hand it also makes it alot harder to lose weight once youve established a new set point. i think lyle has some stuff on this

yes, once youve been really fat before alot of shit is fucked up like insulin sensitivty and setpoints. youll have alot higher ratio of fat/muscle gained when bulking etc. its pretty miserable
