Just wondering, i've only been doing lat pulldowns because im a lil heavy for my height, my back isn't strong enough to pull myself up more than 2-3 times (from lockout).

What are better in your opinion? Pullups or pulldowns?

Would it be more benefical to do pullups, even if i can't from lockout?

We also have a pullup machine that offsets your weight that i could use.

i would do pull-ups at the start of the workout and if your max is three you can do sets of 1 then when you can do any more you can do some negatives (stand on something or jump up and start from the top and lower yourself)

then move on to the pulldowns, I like close grip pulldowns myself

Use the full range of motion on the pullups.

And yes, pullups are superior to pulldowns

If you're like me and can't do enough pull-ups to make a difference, try pullovers with an EZ curl bar. Use them in combination with bent over rows. Pullovers own my lats.

Wrapping the band around the bar and then placing a foot on it to alleviate your weight?

Thats what it sounds like. Would be eaiser to skip the band hassle, and use the machine he says he has.

although it's easier to stand on the band if you put it through each of the safety pins instead of over the top bar

    Good idea. Thanks.
I tried to use the band I recently got from elitelifts to help me do more reps with single arm chins. Problem was I was actually rotating more for some reason.
Also a possible advantage of putting if through each of the safety pins is that you can somewhat progress. By placing the pins lower you'd gradually make the exercise abit more difficult, wouldn't you?

so ive been doing strictly bench press width pulldowns for the past 6 months or so. (no wider than where the bar starts to curve), in hopes to help with my BP strength. ive also been doin the same width pullups, with occasional wide grip ones, but more for stretching purposes.

2 days ago i tried wide grip (hands on the curved part) pulldowns. i did 35lbs more than i normally do. found that interesting.. :)
