This is going to be a mega flame i can tell :mamoru:

Today while i was actually doing squats in the squat rack, and resting inbetween sets, i found that i could quite easily do pullups in it, keeping my body straight without any rocking.

On the normal 'pullup bar' it is waay to small to get a decent grip of, so its very difficult to actual do pullups on.

Is this for a certain reason, or is it ok to do, pullups in the squat rack :x::mamoru:

The bar on this squat rack is more like the ones that are supporting the two sides of the rack.

That front bar is more like a normal pullup bar :dunno:

the squat rack (only one) at my gym has an attachable bent-handled pullup bar that you can hook onto the top bar... Going wide with a straight bar doesn't feel as good for me so I prefer to use the attachable bar. Does it hurt your shoulders or wrists at all to use the straight bar?

I just find it hard to stablise my body on the skinny bars, and end up swinging around. It is very difficult to control. But the top structure of the squat rack is like 3 times as thick, and you can get a good hold on it and use proper form.

I have big hands and the normal little bars are just way too skinny.

I use the rack for pull ups because Its so much higher than the regular pull up bar. Hate draging my feet on pull ups.

many gyms (at least all the one's i've been too) have a couple of pullup stations, at the cable x-over station, and a couple of other dedicated pullup stations

    hahahaha ok.

I was just seeing if the actual size of the pullup bar had anything to do with it. I'm more comfortable doing pullups using big blocks of wood (on like, verandas and stuff). But it obviously doesn't matter.

Mens health last month had a neat exercise, it was like a reverse bench press with the smith machine.

my crappy gym only has 1 squat rack - and it has a pull up bar with all the cable shit so i don't tie up the squat rack doing pull ups, but maybe would if the gym i went to had more damn squat racks i wouldn't feel like a jerk using it for pull ups

No, I saw it too. It's kinda like a reverse row I guess. You pretty much lay on the ground and grab the bar and pull yourself up to it...it is for people that can't do a real pullup yet due to lack of strength or heavy bodyweight.
