:wtc: Never thought I'd spend so much on a Tripod. I also never could have imagined how amazing a good tripod is.

I recently rented this rig, and I just loved it. Amazing setup.

Velbon 540a Carbon Fiber. It weighs like 2.7lbs
Folded up, it fits inside one of my small suitcases to carry on a plane. Extended, it's almost to my eye level. You can fully raise the center column, and there is 0 flexing in it. Rock solid Tripod.

I also prefer the flip levers on the legs compared to the screw ones. I think they're much faster.

Markins Q3 Emile with Knob (instead of lever)

Everything about this ballhead is just amazing. I went to the camera store to check out other ones like gitzo/manfrotto/bogen. I don't think any of them compare. This ballhead is just so smooth and so easy to use.

Can't wait for it to arrive

(B&H will ship Wed due to Holiday... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU)

I'll buy it from you for $250 next month when you decide to sell it for something completely different.

    lol

nah i'll be keeping this for sure. i do like swapping equipment though. i do that with computers/guns/etc too. if i realize i don't like something, i have no problem parting with it.

that 11-16 is a great lens. can't deny it. just didn't agree with how and what i like to shoot

what's your canvas lineup look like? i'm thinking of printing that desert silhouette. do silhouettes look good on canvas?

As far as canvas, i'm actually printing this afternoon... If you have it ready and all that, email it to me now, and i'll get it in today's batch.

Shit, I found one I should have recommended to you earlier, I bought it yesterday

    Weighs a full pound less (2.7lbs v 1.8lbs)
    Carries 4.4lbs more(8.8lbs v 13.2lbs)
Folded height is 3.4 inches smaller (16.5" v 13.1") despite EXACT same extended height.

Can you cancel your order? This is the one I picked up: http://benro.com/products/catalog_search.asp?ID=194&v2=2

Yeah, they're who I'd go with if I wasn't willing to go up to an Acratech (which I'm not)

I don't like twist lock either but I got a rad deal, and all the high end "travel tripods" seem to be twist :hay:

    $500? :eek3:

I bought my Giotto tripod for $150, the ballhead for $80. sturdiest thing I've ever bought when it comes to tripods.

It's just a cheapy aluminum one. Keeping it. Didn't pay a dime for it. Could always use it to hang a speed light or something. :dunno:
