first day of tryouts, ran a mile and a half in the front of the pack with the coach, played awesome in the field, and then right when i was catching a fly ball i crouched a little and something in my lower left side of my back went ZING and now im in pain whenever i move, it hurts whenever i cough, lean a little, and run

I NEED TO GET THIS BETTER BY TOMORROW

i want to make this team more than anything, and today was only the first day of tryouts, the next day being tomorrow

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP THIS OUT, anything, stretches, warm baths, rubbing, icing, ANYTHING

    thank you

    :ugh:

Ask any knowledgeable strength coach, doing mile long runs does nothing to improve your baseball performance. Baseball is a totally anaerobic sport.

    not gonna lie...close to zero.

lower back pulls/strains don't go away overnight.

i've had one in my lower right back for almost a week now (i'm in spring training right now for semipro baseball in western MA) and have only been able to do long distance tossing

stabbing, in a very concentrated part of the muscle, not the whole thing

ok thats a bad thing. probably best to stay off of any activities for the next few days. if it still is stabbing, go see your DR.

i wouldnt even go to tryouts and risk damaging it even more.

sounds like this season you'll be bat and water boy.

well, have fun when you make the team and cant play the season cause of a horrible back injury...

Or you are taken off the field during tryouts due to this injury... and ending your season before it begins.

Would you rather go out there, get hurt, miss the season and possibly never be able to play at the level that you're at now, or would you wait, rest up, go next year, and get on the team easily? Your choice.

    bump for injury results

  24. Talk to the coach. They can probably give you a cortisone shot to get you through it. Or you can just suck it up.

Yeah seems like focusing on more sprint work would be a better idea.
