I've been looking at getting a certification soon.. what are everyone's opinions on ISSA? I know Jeff Merr is certified by them.. was it hard? how long did it take you? is it true that I can do like 10 questions on the exam one night, pause it, and then resume the exam like 3 months later and finish it?

Not hard, just time consuming. Took about 3 months doing it on the side. The exam is take home, so you can do it however you like, but most of the questions you will have to look up in the main book, I think there are 200 questions, so the exam alone takes a few weeks to do. Then you have 5 case studies. Last part is to get CPR certified.

As far as its credibility, ACE, NASM, ISSA etc. will all get you into the mainstream gyms if that's what you're going for.

So.. basically I could start the exam as soon as I receive it, when I don't know the answer to a question, look it up... repeat until I get bored, quit, start again whenever I feel like (for up to 2 years)??

I may do this just to get certified for shits and giggles if it's not too hard. Once I finish college this semester I won't know what to do with all my extra time!

how much does that cost? I've thought about doing it, but I would hate training people for a living. It would just piss me off to have fat out of shape people giving me sob story exuses constantly and then not doing what I say and confused as to why they arent looking like Jessica Simpson or Brad Pit from Fight Club :mamoru:

Only one that holds any merit is ACSM...it is the gold standard and should be nationally required for all personal trainers.

yes but it's the part-time idiots that give shit advice...not implying that is you. why shouldn't a part-time pt be as educated at a full-time pt?
