I need a new PSP battery, i've been looking at non Sony brand ones which feature "longer" battery life.

2400 mAh and 3600 mAh compared to the normal sony 1200 one.

Questions simple, are these trustable battery sources or should I just stick with a sony battery?

Stick to Sony batteries. Unofficial ones might get hot and burn the PSP.

From my experience with batteries for digital cameras, a vast majority of supposedly higher capacity batteries are not as advertised. I have an aftermarket 1200 mAh canon battery which lasts 1/3 the time of the oem battery which is supposed to have only 900 mAh. It leaks charge really fast too. I would stick to the oem battery.

I have non sony batteries, whatever they say its a lie, they don't last long. However they shouldn't blow up in your face or leak or anything like that... and they're like 5x cheaper... I got mine from dealextreme.
