I just got a call from the ATF. I forgot my SSN on my fingerprint card, but I told them what it was over the phone and I should have my tax stamp next week. I am looking at short barrels and the CMMG's come in 1/7 and 1/9 twist. What are the pros and cons of each? Is there anywhere else I can look for short barrels?

1/7 will stabilize heavier bullets. I'd go 1/7 unless you're going to be shooting varmint rounds.

Its about the same as quality 5.56 goes for now a days. I'd seriously be considering one myself right now if getting 50's wouldn't be such a PITA for me here.

Oh hay... it's cheaper than I remember it being when I last checked.

I may put that on my "things I'm going to buy before they get banned" list. :o

Its come down a bit, but its more that 5.56 has gone up alot. If I lived in a free state that I could get mags easily along with SBR'n it I'd be all over one.

I've never found that weapon to be tremendously appealing for its price.

Yeah 5.56 is better, but for the most part other then when I go upstate just for fucking around at the range it'd be fine, but on the other hand if I'm just shooting at 100 meters I can just use cheap shit like Wolf.

Its not for everyone. Where I grew up my dad had the mindset that if it was cool looking and it was fun to shoot he'd buy it. Thats probably why he has 70+ guns and I am the way I am.
