Happened this morning. Sony offered me two options...
    A.) Replace with new PS3 Slim $148.00+Shipping
    B.) Service Existing PS3 $149.00+Labor+Shipping

Pretty much a no brainer real shitty part is that all of my saved data is gone with no way of recovering it. Anyone else have it happen to them?

Used to laugh at the 360 and it's RROD now I'm eating my own words.

did your HDD crash or what? If not can't you just stick it in your PC and back it up somehow?

Looked all over online and found it's useless to plug into your computer. Something about the way it's encrypted or some bullshit. Only way to do it is to be able to boot it up in a PS3 and go from there. I'm going to try it on a friends to see if maybe that'll work.

    Isn't it a yellow light?

Can't you just pull the drive and put it into the new one?

Lame. I'd chose the option to get mine fixed cuz of the software BC capabilities...I'd hate to lose that :hs:

I really could care less about BC. Haven't ever played PS2 games on my PS3 since I got it.

and thats why i put in a 120 gig into my launch 20 gig system. if it dies and need to replace it, i can simply put the 20 gig back into it and send it back while retaining everything on my other drive :coold:

95% of my PS3 playtime is PSX/PS2 games, it would be a sad sad day if my 60gb broke.

I should back up all my data :o

try reflowing it? if that doesn't work send it in, they don't care if you opened it up either way so doesn't hurt to try... search for gilksy on youtube or the playstation forums for the pdf.
