Do you think this server would be fine to do small business hosting, a small internet radio station and a proxy site?

Not for long. 10mbit is too slow. Get a few people using your proxy on youtube and your sites will come to a hault.

I've known a guy who runs a proxy site with a script that scrapes email addresses and passowords from facebook/myspace logins.

    Then tests those againts paypal.

All for documentational purposes though, never takes money, just studies password behaviors.

Its a simple script, you would be suprised at how many people use the same info on both sites.

His "study" could easily become a felony. Even if someone else got a hold of the info and used to to access someone else's account, he'd still be liable for storing the information.

    Well, not really.
The purpose of that story is exactly that, a story that explains how dangerous it is for using same passwords for multiple sites. My job is to explain security to 8000+ employees who asks "are proxies safe" and the answer is absolutely not.
Im not slagging the guys here in the Lab. But, you have blinders on if you believe that owners of proxies are not mining data or if you think that your actions are not private.

People rarely think about such information. Fazle owns a database with 185k members. Its a simple script that could validate the email addresses and passwords againts numerous sites.
Makes you wonder when Pirate bay was hacked and the entire user database was stolen (2.5 million records) what the motives were.

Never run one.. I know imountain.com allows web proxies on their VPS plans, though.

Just think about it - if you get a 10mbit plan, thats essentially 1000kb/sec. If you have 100 people browsing sites at 10kb/sec each, your bandwidth is used up. Get 100 more people, and suddenly your 10kb/sec is split yet again. If one person uses your site on joox.net, or the like movie sites, your bandwidth is all dedicated to that one person.
