I know we've talked about it before.. but I'm fighting with the gf about this... What is the final destination of protein which is not used ? stored as fat.. or do we shit it out?

If anyone has any links to a good write up on it.. you'd be my hero.

    kthx.

Is this all word of mouth or has anyone actually read something (that is reputable) that says it isnt converted to fat?

Excess calories that aren't burned is converted to fat.

If this wasn't the case, then all the F&N folks preaching...

More calories in than out = bulking
More calories out than in = cutting

    ...would all be bullshit.

If you take in excess vitamins, that becomes waste. But that's not the case with fat/carbs/protein.

exactly. Protein is still a macro... it still has caloric value. Excess is just converted to glucose and burned/stored.

if you consume too much protein it can/will be converted to stored fat. took a nutrition class and thats what our text book said .. :dunno: it says no more than 0.8 x body weight should be consumed on a daily basis.

Truth, it's just less efficient at becoming sugars.

I should specify that .8x may be the most your body can use, but it's not going to hurt you (unless you are suffering from kidney failure)

i dont see how anyone thinks that it wouldnt be converted into excess calories. Its like lyle says after youve eaten a sufficient amount for your body to have all the eaa's and what not it will just become an expensive form of calories. Do you all think that your digestive track will suddenly hit 134.837212 grams of protein absorbed and cut off?? That makes absolutely no sense. You can digest and absorb practically everything you eat it just becomes excess calories after a certain point.

If you keep over eating over time your body will store fat but it can only store so much in a day. The rest you shit out.

uhhh yes there are cals in protein. i'm saying it's not the extra protein that makes you fat. you can eat under maintenance and get 'extra' protein and you're not going to get fat.

If you're under maintenance, then the protein will be used. If you're over maintenance, then the protein will be stored as fat.

    None of it becomes poop.
