In process of getting a memphis 500 watt amp

    Anyways....
My JL500/1 died. Getting a Memphis amp now. I have a blade fuse next to the battery terminal and two glass fuses by the amps. The JL doesn't have internal fuses, but the Memphis does. I am assuming the 500/1 died because I pushed it so hard and it didn't have consistent power. I want to protect my investment, should i get a capacitor or should i just put in a second battery with an isolator. It should only be pushing 800watts. I drive a 350z, I would like to avoid the battery if I could, trying to save space. Thanks in advance.

    it won't hurt.

edit: its not the greatest fix, but i'm running 700 watts and i have one. along with an Interstate Megatron, and a 94 amp alternator. but it's in a 1985 S10, so i don't have many electronics

i have a stock alternator..supposedly puts out 110 amps at minimum. my sub is dual 4 ohms, 500 watts rms.

i'm so confused, some people say i need a cap, some say it's just for show.

Caps are band-aids. I'd get a better battery if you are having power issues and maybe a high output alternator. You should be ok with 800 watts though. I ran 750 on my old VW GTi and it never had issues.

yep. a battery would prolly be a better investment. a real optima red top, not that bullshit auto zone red top. the real ones have the side posts closer together, the fakes have the side posts on the outer edge of battery
