MIL Proper Attire for non-Cadet ROTC Training

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Pen Is Mightier, Sep 28, 2008.

  1. At my school the ROTC Training is an OPEN course. They charged me $40 for the class so I assume that means I will receive shirt/shorts/PT belt. However for the first day what should I wear?

    So far I have:
Grey T-Shirt with school logo on it.
Black running shorts with minimal logo.
    Running shoes.
    White socks.

Is that OK for first day? I assume if it is not they could make me change immediately but I would rather not make a fool of myself. Waking up early is going to SUCK. Oh well. All in the name of "fun".

So you are a regular student just wanting to do the PT and take the military science classes without joining ROTC?

Make sure you shave that morning before PT, not the night before. Wear socks that cover your ankles. I don't think it's required by the Army but my Captain required us to have watches. Are you just doing the PT or are you going to the military science classes too? Cadets have to wear their ACU to class, I don't know about non-cadets though.

  6. Army PT. No MS classes.

TY on shaving & ankle sock comment. I have gotten lazy at shaving recently because before I didn't have to every day but now I do.

they're gonna make u shave even though ur not actually apart of rotc? at my skool if ur just a normal student and wanna pt with us u can just show up as u are. weird that they actually make u pay and have a "course" just for PT

  8. I just don't want to look like an asshole showing up. Not sure if they "make you" shave or do anything. I do anyway though, even got the short ass hair. I've got the fitness for the Army..well probably not, but I could achieve it, but it's not for me to be honest. I will probably get fucking destroyed tomorrow but I am looking forward to it.
I am going to be a police officer though.

I assumed he would have to shave just because he is wearing an Army uniform. If he was wearing civilian clothes it wouldn't matter.

I think he's enrolled in the course as a non-contracted cadet.

  11. That's a negative.

    Enrolled as civi.

Just woke up...FUCK THIS SHIT. I couldn't go to bed until literally 1:30 and probably didn't KO until 2:30. I have so much on my mind these days and I'm used to going to bed at ~2 at the earliest. I'm sure one day of this will change that though, thank God. Time to get my ass over there though.

  12. Ok, you guys got some runnin' powah. I'll give you that. :mamoru:

I just got spanked on a 3mi run. Good shit though, I'll be back for more on Wednesday that's for sure.

  13. BTW I didn't get any PT gear except a belt. Weak sauce. Everyone was really chill though.

    true story

I went into college thinking I was going to be a cop and just do ROTC so I can be in the NG. Completely changed my mind once I learned a lot more about the Army and decided to go active

  17. I've been doing this shit for 4 semesters now and it hasn't changed. I never fall asleep until around 1 or 2. I can always hear people outside my apartment until around 2 as well so even when I try to fall asleep before then I can't.

Wasn't that just a few months ago?

  19. We did some push ups but nothing serious, more so just to get some blood flowing. We also did a lot of stretches before hand.

I really enjoy PT in the mornings. We have a pretty nice setup at my school our school's ROTC program is through a host school about 12 miles away, partnership program kind of deal.

Anyway there are only 4 of us MSIII's right now, and 4 MSI's so it is a real tight group. We have a decent amount of discipline with formations and such when warming up and stretching out, but once we move into the actual activities, we joke around constantly and just generally have a good time. It's really cool that we have a couple of MSGs come over from the host school and do PT with us, and even the LTC will come over and do PT with us on days that we do soccer or hockey for cardio activities (last semester he played soccer with us, got hurt during the game without saying too much at the time, had to have reconstructive surgery on his knee over the summer).
