"Porsche", a proper name, is originally pronounced as PORSH-uh, which is how members of the Porsche family pronounce their name.

Some tend to vocalize the e, which results in Por-SCHA. Others, particularly in Canada and the United States, mistakenly treat the e as silent, a pronunciation rule that applies in English and French but not in German, producing the monosyllabic, porsh

A co-worker of mine drives an e46 vert and the only reason he knows the difference is because his neighbor owns a motorcycle and a bimmer. :ugh:

if you are American you should just say Porsh. Don't be an elitist fag running around saying porshuh.

OT'r 2slow is South African by birth - German by naturalization. He worked for Porsche for a number of years till 2005 or so when he was promoted to Audi. He owns a Porsche to this day. Anyhow...while drinking one night he asked me why I kept mispronouncing Porsche. I told him that in good conscience I couldn't say "por-SCHA" untill I owned one.

I think that's how all Americans should do it.
