Program to ignore bad hard drive sectors?

    Does such a thing exist? Can anyone reccommend a good one. I have a laptop that has some bad sectors which prevents windows from booting up after a while.

    chkdsk/scandisk should be to fix or mark bad sectors

    if that doesn't work, your next step is to reinstall windows and format.... the reason formatting takes so long is that it scans the entire drive and marks bad sectors so the drive won't write to it.

    chkdsk c: /f /r

    Then, reboot and walk away for a few hours. If that doesn't do it, you probably need to reformat.
