was hard to get the whole thing in focus, shooting with a macro, he really wanted the writing visible.

    Focus stack it.

You might also try getting the whole thing in focus and then extracting the writing from the macro shot to be used in the "whole thing" shot.

If you are intending on having the background be white, then make sure it isn't underexposed!

Also if you look closely the background has dirt on it. Either that or your sensor is dirty.

Oh, and your crop was weird too.

    What do you think?

Oh so stack multiple shots focused on different areas? Can I do that in lightroom?

so you think I should have a longer exposure?

Yeah I saw dirt on it once I took the photo, but i figure it's fine for now while I try to figure this thing out. I didn't crop it...but it is off centered. I need to fix that too.

Honestly I think you should stop worrying about lightroom and photoshop and start paying more attention to fundamental photography techniques. That is going to help you out in the long run.

I do concur, but i didn't know how to get the whole thing in focus and still get a clear shot of the writing on the bolt. I took some shots with a longer exposure and more centered, but I'm at work right now so I can't really post it.

Are you using a DSLR? To get the whole thing in focus you need to shoot at a smaller aperture, like f/8, f/11, f/16.

I can't image why it wouldn't be in focus at F11. Can't you use a different lens? How long is that bolt?

If its all in focus you can always enhance the writing in PP if you can't read is clearly, but if its in focus you shouldn't have any trouble.

well I only have a 60mm macro. bolt is like 2.5 inches long...but I had it maybe 6 inches away from the lens? I'll back it out to like a foot or something.

thanks for the the input guys...I'll try again tonight and posts the pics up...hopefully it'll look a lot better.:x:

The closer you get to the object the harder it is to get the whole image in focus. Your lens stops down to f/32, don't be afraid to use it!
