problems with windows starting up

    I got windows xp, all of the sudden it just restarted and now it does not load, it shows the Windows Loading screen but then it just goes to a black screen and nothing happens............ i tried going into recovery mode and running chkdsk /p but that didnt help

    any other suggestions? how do i run scandisk or some other utility to help me recover windows :wtc:

    Try safe mode?

    go into safe mode and see if you have /noguiboot in the boot parameters

    when i go into the safe mode, i get this

    multi(0)disk(0)rdsik(0)parition(1)\Windows\System32\Drivers\isapnp.sys
    multi(0)disk(0)rdsik(0)parition(1)\Windows\System32\Drivers\ohci1394.sys
    multi(0)disk(0)rdsik(0)parition(1)\Windows\System32\Drivers\pciide.sys
    etc, etc, etc
    and it stops at
    multi(0)disk(0)rdsik(0)parition(1)\Windows\System32\Drivers\Gernuwa.sys

    You didn't by chance install PCAnywhere did you?
