I just installed the new Norton on computer which has helped get some pages to load now. But everytime I want to get into Hotmail, it doesn't load. Then when I go to other websites, they'll load. then some other random sites won't load. what the hell is the deal? I'm so close to smashing my computer with a bat. This is pissing me off. Any help?

was there another thread somewhere listing some details... such as OS, browser, AV, AS, firewall, etc?

First step I would take, would be to remove Norton. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. I've seen Norton block sites without warning, and all but shut down the internet on several systems.

Anyway, throw up some details and let's go from there.

I'm not getting rid of Norton. Never had a problem with it. So no need for me to get rid of it. The only sites so far that isn't loading for me is google, MSN Hotmail, and some random sites I go to that I usually don't go to. But my roommates are having these problems too I guess. They said they haven't been able to get into Hotmail either. Plus I can't sign on to AIM. I don't use it, but I have it so I always try to log in to whatever to see what else works and doesn't work.

If it's the whole Norton IS suite, check the cookie blocking, and the firewall.

Anyone got an old fashioned fiver to put on this that it is Nortons?

It's either Norton or someone slipped a router inline with some odd settings, assuming our info doesn't change.

A farmer had a cow once, the cow died, the farmer said "Huh, he's never done that before".

    Hehehehe...nice.

Norton Internet Security is a waste of time. All you need is Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition and the standard Windows XP Firewall.

well now my roommates are telling me that their hotmail won't log in either. So it must be our internet or something.

Yeah, it must be "the internet", rather than the components we're t-shooting.

If you don't want to heed our advice, don't fucking ask for it.

Not if they all have Norton's. Could have come down in an update.

I dunno where the cookie blocking is, it's been so long since I used it, but it's in there. Look under the firewall stuff.
