we have server 2000 running a dns server (active directory is installed)

whenever we try to visit our website (hosted somewhere entirely seperate from our network/office) we are basically being directed to our server.

    example

lets say our domain at work is called ot.net and that our server is called ot1
when trying to connect to website ot.net (hosted at, lets say, cheese.com) we are instead directed to ot1

how do i change the dns settings on ot1 to instead point to our hosted website?

    Check your forwarding settings.

Make sure you have your forward and reverse zones setup correctly as well.

Shouldn't need to touch the zones unless you've mangled them before. DCG is right though, the forwarding DNS servers are the key.

    stupid me.

ended up adding an alias for "www" and pointing it to the webhosts server. worked just fine.
