I try opening it and it basically crashes, I have to force quit every time. Im new to macs, this is my first one actually. Am I doing something wrong? It worked the first day I had it, Ive re-downloaded it a bunch of times.

open a new finder window and use the search bar at the top right to find the acquisition .plist file and delete it. when acquisition opens back up it should be back to normal, and then youll just have to renew your preferences.

vlc doesnt handle .wmv files. as for acquisition, use spotlight to find all of its files, then re-download and try.

Don't really know to much about intel mac's.. but can't you download windows media player for mac (fom versiontracker or smthn..) and won't it run through Rosetta? Or is that not how it works?

    Yeah...

and VLC handles most WMV files, the only ones I've had problems with are called wmv3 files, which are ones from online (such as youtube etc).

yeah wmv3 files are the ones im having trouble with, vlc plays them on my PC so I made the assumption they would on my macbook. Guess not.

check to make sure the version of acquisition you're using is universal and not PPC.

im getting it off of acquisitionx.com

on the bottom of the page it has the OSX symbol and next to it has a 'universal' symbol. Does that mean it works on intels too? Is there a different version for intels?

I'm new at macs too so I'm no expert... but from what I can tell, Aquisition uses Limewire anyway to search for files.

open the console (its in applications/utilities/) than launch acquisition and see if it throws an error.
