problem with new home stereo

    i just got this, klh 600 watt receiver and 2 klh 12 inch speakers with 2 lil rca speakers hooked up, and i was listening to the fucker at volume level 35 and all of a sudden it shuts off and now i cant get the volume level above 20-25 or it shuts off automatically(receiver), whats up with that anyone know?

    Do you have a multimeter?

    It sounds to me like you destroyed one of the speakers, causing its voice coil to short out and form a short circuit.

    Try removing the small rca speakers and I bet the problem will be fixed, and if it isnt, try removing the KLH ones and see if it still plays.

    Mabye its an auto shut off on the receiver? I thought if you have the volume up too high for a certain amount of time it will shut off.

    problem fixed, i removed the rca speakers and its just fine now, thanks
