So, I already have a nano, but I bought 2 more for my stores with the idea of playing them on the stereo 24/7 because I have problems getting good reception in the building.

The problem is that the songs go up, then down then up then down track by track.

I turned on normalization but that didn't seem to help.

So I downloaded Ivolume to see if that helps.

    Anyone have similar problems?

I called Apple and they told me to return my nano's because they are defective (Both?) lol

Look at the quality of your music.

Its probably the bit rate of your music. A song with a bit rate of 256kbps will sound louder than one that is 128kbps

That's not necessarily true, but I agree it's probably your music.
